Yaku Princess is a yakushimanum rhododendron: apple-blossom pink trusses fading white over a perfect low dome of leathery leaves with felted undersides. At two to three feet it fits foundations without pruning, and its species line is famously heat- and sun-tolerant for a rhodo. Morning sun, acid soil, mulch, and drainage; wet feet remain the one deadly sin.
